 Not great if you're pale/fair. October 25, 2006

I originally bought the lightest shade they had (Fair) and that was too dark, and I'm not even the palest person I know. If you have porcelain skin or are on the pale side, this makeup will be too dark on you!! Since I first bought Fair I've darkened a bit and now Fairly Light looks good on me. It seems though there is no in between. If you're not within a shade of any of these colors, the color will be too dark or too light. Now that I've found a color that matches my skin as best as it can, I do like wearing this product. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing a lot of makeup and doesn't cause my skin to breakout. I just bought my second jar and I can't wait to get it in!

At first I was a little displeased with the product. But after using it for about a week I have discovered that the type of brush you use, the amount of product you use (I have found it best to use sparingly) and the amount of buffing you do makes all the difference. Today I buffed it into my face for a little bit longer and used a little less product than I have been and was really pleased with the results!

I've been using foundation since 10th grade (I'm 25 now), not for its own sake but because I have extremely oily skin and a blotchy complexion that needs evening out. Starting at the age of 15 I tried Clinique, Clarins, Estee Lauder, and Shiseido foundations, none of which was completely satisfactory. Some brands I had to reapply within hours; others didn't adequately cover up shine. Sometimes the makeup just went on too chalky or pancake-y.
Three years ago my mom introduced me to Bare Escentuals ID, which she told me was great for her oily skin. WELL. I've been using it ever since and I will never go back. The "medium 2.3" shade is a perfect match for my skin tone, and the powder goes on flawlessly and STAYS that way. In the morning I apply foundation followed by mineral veil; come nightfall there's still no trace of shine and I haven't had to reapply once. It evens out my complexion, hides my large pores, and doesn't make itself obvious in the least. I've never received so many compliments on my "flawless" skin!
It's true that this product can be quite messy to apply. Swishing and tapping the brush leaves a film of powder all over everything and wastes the product. All things considered, however, I feel this is a small price to pay.
(Another reviewer suggested that people who post favorable reviews of this product are employees of the manufacturer. I'm not.)

I have problem skin. Problem skin in that it breaks out at the slightest provocation, dries up and flakes with the tiniest bit of medication, and scars every time. I'm also very, very pale. I have tried just about everything in my quest for halfway decent skin and no product has compared to bareMinerals foundation. It gives great coverage, and never upsets my skin.
I don't use any other products from the Bare Escentuals line, and apply the product using Sephora brand brushes. (They don't make kits in "fair".) But I'm having great results without using the entire product line; so I don't think it's necessary to buy a kit or even the Bare Escentuals brushes.

I saw this make up advertised one night,and thought I would take a chance.I am so glad I did!! I have 58-year old skin,and along with age comes dull skin,spots and those horrid spidery-veins.I tried every kind of make up under the sun,from powders to liquids,and they all looked horrible.Too heavy. Too "pancakey" and some made my face break out. Then I ordered and received this magic stuff,and my skin looks great now!! I'm shocked how well it works to cover all imperfections,and especially those spider veins that incorrectly indicate to other people you drink too much. I don't drink at all,so where did they come from? I don't care anymore.I have this wonderful make up that takes me all of three minutes to put on.I just love it.I use the foundation and the mineral veil. They work perfectly and I couldn't be happier.
