At first, I really liked this brush. I had used it for about 2 years when the brush completely fell out of its metal holder and was impossible to use..I had taken care of it so I was expecting it to last longer than it did...especially since it wasn't cheap!

bare escentuals kabuki is the best .the type of hair is firm enough to work the minerals and soft at the same time.i always wash mine with my shampoo.i have the mac 182, it is too soft and doesnt work the minerals properly and it may be great for normal powders but it wasnt designed with minerals in mind and therefore you dont get a natural look

First of all, for all those who are having problems with this brush shedding, I would suggest calling the BareEscentuals people and discussing the problem with them. In my experience they have been EXTREMELY accommodating, so they would probably refund or replace the brush. They go all out to keep their customers happy! I have had 2 of these Kabuki brushes FOR A FEW YEARS, I use them constantly, I almost never wash them (shame on me), and have never really had any problem with excess shedding. Yes, they lose a few hairs from time to time, but I have found this to be true of ANY large brush I have ever used. (even high quality artist's oil paint brushes!) That's just the result of how brushes are made --think about it. I have about 8 different types of brushes from Bare Escentuals and I am totally satisfied with all of them, and find them all to be great quality.
Next, I agree that the brush is overpriced. (I have been fortunate to get some of mine included with other purchases) I have found 2 other brands of very similar brushes in drugstores, much cheaper, which work almost as well. The kabuki-type brush from Salon Collection and also one from Image Essentials (both found in drugstores) are much less expensive and work well.
Also wanted to add that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Bare Minerals makeup! It works so well, and is so much simpler than liquids. I would NEVER go back to liquid!

First of all, this brush is amazing for coverage. There is really no replacement. Mine broke while I was overseas and I bought another company's kabuki brush, it did not work for BE at all!
HOWEVER, I have gone through two brushes in just over a year of use - and not even daily use! The first brush's bristles came right out of the metal band and left me stranded for 3 weeks without a good brush. It was awful! When I got another one, the lady at the BE store said that they shouldn't do that, but they couldn't replace it or anything. I take good care of my brushes. I wash them with the BE wash and I always dry them flat. My second brush is now wearing out too. The bristles have become hard and very wide. I detest having to pay this much for a brush every 9 months!

I love this brush! It is definitly in the top 5 brushes I use. I got mine in a kit, so I did not buy it by itself but it is amazing. I have used it for months, have even washed it a couple times and it has held up great. It has lost a few bristles while washing (5+) but I did not lose as many as that one reviewer said. I would definitly recommend this brush to a friend!
